what we do
Housing Association Partnerships
Working Together to Support Tenants & Communities
Govan Appliance Project has built strong partnerships with housing associations across Glasgow, including Govan Housing Association. We provide refurbished, high-quality white goods that are affordable, reliable, and sustainable.
Through these partnerships, we help:
Reduce financial pressure on tenants by offering affordable appliances
Provide a dependable delivery, installation, and aftercare service
Divert appliances from landfill and extend their life through repair and reuse
We are expanding our portfolio and inviting more housing associations to join us. By working together, we can create a fairer, greener Glasgow while improving services for tenants.
Training, Skills & Workshops
Empowering People with Skills for the Future
As a social enterprise, we are committed not just to appliances, but to people. Govan Appliance Project runs free training courses and workshops to support local communities in developing practical skills in repair, reuse, and sustainability.
Our programmes include:
Hands-on training in appliance repair and maintenance
Employability workshops for young people and jobseekers
Community workshops that build confidence, skills, and awareness of sustainability
These initiatives help create pathways into employment while reducing waste — making our project a true blueprint for community-led change.
Circular Economy in Action
A Flourishing Social Enterprise Built on the Circular Economy
We are proud to be a working example of how the circular economy model can flourish at a local level. By extending the life of appliances through repair, reuse, and resale, we:
Keep valuable goods in use for longer
Reduce landfill waste
Lower carbon emissions
Provide affordable, sustainable solutions for communities
Our work demonstrates that the circular economy is not just an idea, but a practical, thriving business model that delivers real social and environmental value.
Sustainability & Impact
Creating a Greener, Fairer Glasgow
Every appliance we repair, every training course we deliver, and every partnership we form brings us closer to a more sustainable future.
Our impact so far:
Thousands of appliances diverted from landfill
Affordable white goods delivered to households across Glasgow
Local people trained with new skills for life and work
Strong partnerships with housing associations and community organisations
We are a blueprint for how a social enterprise can flourish while tackling waste, supporting people, and strengthening communities.
