Community

At Govan Appliance Project, our mission is to tackle the growing problem of discarded appliances being dumped on Glasgow’s streets and sent to landfill. We believe every appliance deserves a second life. By repairing, refurbishing, and reselling white goods, we keep valuable resources in use, reduce carbon emissions, and prevent waste from harming our communities and environment.

Our work is about more than appliances — it’s about people and sustainability. We run free employability and skills training programmes that empower local people to gain hands-on repair experience, build confidence, and open pathways into work. These opportunities ensure that sustainability delivers not only environmental benefits, but also real social and economic value for our community.

By partnering with housing associations, we make affordable, reliable appliances accessible to tenants while contributing to cleaner streets and a greener Glasgow.

We are proud to be a flourishing social enterprise — a blueprint for how communities can lead the way in sustainability, reduce waste at the source, and build a fairer future for all.

'Govan Appliance Project invests in people, the community and the environment.'
